About Flint Residents Directory

Flint records are kept by different custodians. The city assessor links owners to parcels, the Register of Deeds indexes instruments, elections offices manage controlled voter-record access, and Flint Public Library holds historical directories. Flint Residents Directory is a private reference that points readers to those separate sources and their documented access routes.

Why Flint Needs a Records Map

A name, street, parcel, and old address each lead to a different Flint or Genesee County custodian. Ownership evidence is split between the City of Flint property route and the Genesee County Register of Deeds. Michigan voter records are public only within stated field limits. Historical household evidence often sits at Flint Public Library or in an archival finding aid. The reference organizes those known routes, access limits, and documented alternatives when a portal does not contain the needed record.

What the Reference Includes

  • Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
  • The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
  • Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
  • Access rules: Michigan FOIA procedures, protected records, and the custodian route for material not posted online

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site with no connection to any Flint office, Genesee County department, Michigan agency, court, or library. Its limits are clear:

  • We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Flint
  • We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
  • We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
  • We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
  • We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment

Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
